Zelry wyrms were a species of creature that could served live as food. During a competition to determine the next sous chef of the pirate Maz Kanata's castle on the planet Takodana, the chef Jom Jarusch prepared a spicy living zelrey wyrm while crawling around the castle's kitchen to dodge stun blasts meant to test the contestant's abilities to cook under stressful conditions. The chef used instructions from the recipe book of the castles previous sous chef Robbs Ely, which Jarusch had stolen shortly prior to Ely's murder. The Artiodac head chef Strono Tuggs considered live zelrey wyrm to be an ambitious and daring dish to attempt, but believed Jarusch had executed on it perfectly.[1]
Behind the scenes
A zelrey wyrm first appeared in the short story "A Recipe for Death", which was written by Landry Q. Walker and released on April 5, 2016 as part of the Tales From a Galaxy Far, Far Away Volume I: Aliens anthology book.
