Zenn-La was first mentioned in the epilogue of "A Recipe for Death," a short story written by Landry Q. Walker and published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press in Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens: Volume I on April 5, 2016. The location shares its name with the home planet of the Silver Surfer from Marvel Comics, although Walker has stated that the connection was unintentional.
