Zhat Lah was a relative of Tsavong Lah and a Yuuzhan Vong commander. He retreated his forces from the Second Battle of Fondor in the face of an attack launched by overwhelming Galactic Alliance forces, an unusual action for Yuuzhan Vong warriors, who typically fought to the death.^[1] Nas Choka, the warmaster who had replaced Tsavong Lah,^[2] praised Zhat Lah for his actions and placed the surprised commander in charge of a defense fleet at Yuuzhan'tar, the Yuuzhan Vong capital.^[1]
