The Zrak system was a star system located within the Outer Rim Territories, in the Nijune sector.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

"There once was a Heep-heep from Zrak
Who found himself in a crack
The harder he tried
To remove his backside
The deeper he sank and that's that!
"
―A poem[src]

The Zrak system was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a third-generation Essential Guide written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace and published by Del Rey in August 2009.[2] The book placed the system in the Outer Rim Territories, within the Nijune sector.[3] Fry has stated that "planets not assigned a system in [a] published source can be assumed to reside in [the] system of [the] same name."[4] This article assumes the same applies for Zrak, an undefined location first introduced in a one-page poem written by Bob Carrau for the 1993 book Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a publication that combines creature designs and photographs from various projects of George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars franchise, with original text by Carrau.[5] The poem identifies Zrak as the home to a reptilian species known as Heep-heep; a rhyming poem once spoke of a male Heep-heep from Zrak who became stuck in a crack.[5] Lucasfilm employee Leland Chee, who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has indicated that information contained in the 1993 book is non-canonical.[6]
