- "No mechno-chairs, no prosthetics, no jackets, no locked rooms."
- ―Aric Nightdrifter, on the dismal state of the abandoned Vashka Valley Retirement Facility 48
A mechno-chair[1] was a type of self-propelled chair that moved on a set of four articulated legs. Nute Gunray, Viceroy of the Trade Federation, used a mechno-chair to move around Theed Royal Palace during the Invasion of Naboo[2] and Senator Lott Dod, the Trade Federation's representative in the senate of the Galactic Republic, had a multitude of mechno-chairs in his palace on Cato Neimoidia.[3] They were also used to assist with mobility in retirement homes.[5] Thomas Toov used a mechno-chair for greater mobility whenever he left his stasis dome.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
Mechno-chairs first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.[2]
